Position Title: Director of Quality

Company Information: Rapid prototype and ultra-low volume production. Metal stampings, laser cutting, tubing, assembly, welding, and machining.

Reports to: VP of Operations

POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

This is a high-level manager and high-visibility position within the organization. The Quality Manager will ensure quality in all products which enable strong product reputation and reliability. The positon is responsible for the development, implementation and management of a world-class quality management system and exceptional customer experiences.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

· Manages the compliance, continual improvement and application of (ISO, AS, ITAR) special process certifications including hosting audits (internal, customer and 3rd party). Serves as the management representative.

· Create, revise, and implement quality assurance procedures, policies and standards. Ensure these systems, and documents align with recognized Quality System Standards as well as organizational objectives, policies and procedures.

· Acts as the lead organizational contact for all customer quality concerns.

· Ensure a high level of internal and external customer service. Investigate (and correct) customer issues and complaints relating to quality. Perform RCCA (root cause and corrective action) using a variety of methods.

· Ensure that products shipped meet internal and external customer requirements.

· Develop, set and achieve goals associated with quality system improvements.

· Interface with other departments to meet organizational goals.

· Monitors the organization’s key performance indicators.

· Train employees in all aspects of QSM, quality control, RCCA, inspection, and fixturing methodology.

· Provide cost justification for quality related capital equipment and training expenditures.

· Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products.

· Provide technical and statistical expertise to internal and external stakeholders.

· Oversee and/or initiate the development of measurement tools that enable product evaluation.

· Oversee and/or conduct product audits to ensure finished goods conform to specified requirements.

· Oversee, manage, and/or conduct PPAP and First Article submission requirements.

· Train, develop, coach, and mentor quality team members to ensure strong performance and positive morale within the quality department.

PROBLEM SOLVING

· Interaction with customers requires the ability to determine company responsibility and response to quality issues, while gaging the company’s risk and advising executive management of options to pursue.

· Analyze and interpret CMM/Romer arm scan data to support problem solving in manufacturing.

· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

· Assess and recommend process controls to enable better measurement processes.

· Determine and develop statistical tools and applications to assess product or process performance.

· Collaborate with Human Resources on the determination of departmental selection and termination decisions. Determine methods to best lead and coach department to achieve optimum morale.

· Delegate responsibilities to meet deadlines and requirements both internally and externally.

SUPERVIOSRY RESPONSIBILITY

This position supervises a quality team of quality technicians and quality engineers and is responsible for the performance management within the department.

TRAVEL

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out of the area and overnight travel should be expected when engagement with customers at customer locations is required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution.

· Member of ASQ and Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (MOQ/OE) is preferred.

· 5-10 years related experience.

· QMS internal auditor training desired.

· Knowledge of metal stampings and assembly processes preferred.

· Prior supervisory experience desired.

POSITON TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full time, exempt position that requires flexibility in work hours, often working more than 40 hours a week.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Organization provides a modern work environment with high-tech equipment all within a manufacturing facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to manufacturing processes, moving mechanical parts, fumes and airborne particles.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, gripping, stooping, crouching, and the use of both hands.

The employee must occasionally lift and move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
